Fear of Water

This is a new song I wrote. I’ve decided to work on my live singing and playing skills. It’s an area I feel I need a lot of improvement. This is also an attempt to widen the subject of my video on this channel. If you only want tech related videos, only watch the videos on Fridays.

This song is available at BandCamp.com and source files for remixing and remastering are available via bittorrent here.

Helter Skelter – The Blasphemous Remaster

Today I did something that most people view as blasphemous.  I remastered a classic Beatles song, Helter Skelter.  It’s a hard rocks song that I always felt was not mastered correctly.  So I did it myself.

First thing I added was a cutoff on the bass and centered it.  Drastically reducing the high end makes the bass frequency thicker.  For the guitar I added cabinet emulation and cranked the gain.  I think this gives guitar a heavier sound.  The drums and vocals I left untouched as there is little I could do to improve upon them.  They are almost perfect.

Vorbis and a torrent of the Flac are available. Also a Magnet Link.

DeadBeef

Back in the day, long ago when I was using Windows, I loved Foobar2000.  To this day it really is one of the brightest applications in the win32 world.  Since then I’ve enjoyed Rhythmbox in Linux but DeadBeef really made me remember why I loved Foobar2000.  It’s lightweight, feature-full, and fast.  I’d also recommend it to people who want a lightweight music player.

The Spaces in Between

Fire is rad!

Fire is rad!

I’ve fallen in love with Trent Reznor’s new band ‘How to Destroy Angels.’  It’s not necessarily Nine Inch Nails, but it’s not completely alien either.  There is an obvious influence that I believe comes from his new wife and band vocalist Mariqueen Maandig ( seen left on fire. )

At first I was not quite feeling the sound.  The combination of anyone elses voice with the Nine Inch Nails sound bothered me.  But after hearing “The Spaces in Between” this girl is holding her own.

The new video is everywhere right now.  YouTube and Vimeo have high definition videos.  Their website is pretty bare but is updating all the time.  Check out How To Destroy Angels website.
