Ubuntu Linux in a Dell commercial?

I saw this on YouTube… I wonder if it’s actually going to be a broad casted commercial.

ARccOS vs Linux

I found an old DVD in my library that I wanted to watch. I never saw Man of the Year when it came out, and I was surprised to see it in the library. I rarely rip watch DVDs from major studios. Between the $3 theater by my house and The Pirate Bay, there is hardly ever a reason too. Just like I do with the few DVDs I rip to my hard drive (mostly independent films) I use HandBrake.

Handbrake responded that it couldn’t find the movie. What?! I ran DVDShrink. It Errored out. Huh?! I looked and found that I needed libdecss2. Went back to Handbrake, no deal! Crap!

I think I’m dealing with ARccOS. I was able to rip it with DVDShrink, then load the ISO with handbrake. Too many steps, but I got it.

Just another exsample of how DRM fucks the people who play by the rules. Why must the average user have to jump leaps and bounds just to get media the way he wants it? I don’t know.

Monty Python would have been proud.
