Johnstar and I went on a horrible trip. We ended up in Norco. I now hate that place as much as Johnny does. All just to get a fucking Wii.

I’ve bought a few films off of b-side.com. DVD quality (480p h264) downloads for only $7.99. Their biggest blockbuster right now is Four Eyed Monster. It’s actually a really good film.

Between this and the thousands of Mp3 online stores that have been popping up (Project Opus, Music Freedom, and Snocap) it’s safe to say that online retail is here, and here to stay.

It seems the world of content creators with control over their own distribution is more and more a reality. It’s very exciting to see what comes next.

It’s been a while since most of us have taken a look at a version of Avidemux (other than the one in our default repository.) I grabbed my a copy of 2.4.0 pre-release and had some fun playing with it. There is a lot of updates from the Ubuntu stock version.

First, and my favorite, is the mp4 container has been added to the output. This is HUGE! Now I can finally make decent h264 videos in Linux. (I was on the verge of just blacklisting h264 all together.)

Another feature I am just gonzo about is the requantize “codec” for DVD. This lets you resize a mpeg2 video with out completely transcoding it. Very slick app. It’s available for Linux, OSX, and even Windows.

I just can’t get over my love for Canon products and this makes me feel like some kind of corporate whore. My video camera died today, and I’m in need of a quick and easy fix. I found a solution at the camera shop for less than my low end DV camera. The ansewer will be a PowerShot A570 IS.

It’s a still camera that takes 640×480 30p video. This is a huge jump and for only $160.

It don’t end there. I might be filming Fleshridden Cannibals with a Canon Powershot TX1 (or two.)
